The goal of this third step is to complete an entire face while leaving the remaining tip with the pattern shown in the objective image.
In the image, the completed face is not visible because it is the red one at the bottom.
First of all, we need to choose a face, in this case, the red one. We orient the Pyraminx so that the centers of this color face downward, as in the example.
At the tip remaining at the top, we look for an edge that has red and rotate the top tip until the other color, which is not red, matches the center of the same color.
We can encounter two different cases:
Case 1: In this example, the chosen edge is the red and yellow one. The yellow color of the edge matches the yellow center. Looking at the yellow face, we see that the edge is on the left. To place the edge correctly and complete the red face, we need to perform the following moves:
Case 2: In this second case, the chosen edge is also the red and yellow one, but this time, when looking at the yellow face, the piece is on the right side. To place the edge correctly, we perform the following moves.
We repeat the process until all 3 edges are correctly placed to complete an entire face.
Now, we can encounter 3 different cases:
Case 1: The Pyraminx is solved, and we have skipped a step.
Case 2: The Pyraminx remains in the pattern shown in the objective image of this step. If so, we can move on to the next step.
Case 3: Neither case 1 nor case 2 applies. If this happens, we need to choose another face of a different color and complete it following the same procedure, even if we undo the face we have already completed. We repeat this process until we reach case 1 or 2.
